Dear Faithful Friend, There’s No Place like Home! Over 30 years ago Warren and I were looking to buy our first home in Dallas. After an amazing house fell through we looked on the bulletin board at Dallas Seminary (where Warren was studying). We thought, “Who can afford to rent a house in that area?” But we called the number anyway and met with a wonderful couple hoping to rent their house to young seminary folks like us. They said, “We would love to rent my mother’s home to you (she was in a nursing home) for what you are paying to rent an apartment. Graciously they let us rent that home for 7 years. Jack and Peggy Rosenlund blessed us beyond measure in their generosity towards us and also their wise and godly encouragement that they gave to us over the years. Recently we got to rejoice at the legacy that Peggy has left on so many. We think of the huge blessing their generosity was to us as we made so many memories and had so many opportunities to bless others in our home. Then and now our hearts have flooded thinking about the folks we have had in our home…. dinners and parties, SMU students, UT Students, small groups, folks spending the night, staff meetings, fellow missionaries from Uganda, East Asia, New Zealand, Central America, Canada, Lubbock and so many more. The heart of our ministry is still to show the love and generosity of Jesus through our home-a place to be loved, served, and cared for-to point them to Jesus. One of the hugest blessings of that house was bringing home Lauren Claire from Oklahoma (where we adopted her from). After years of waiting and trusting God with his timing for our family we were thrilled to bring home our first baby girl! (Rachel came to our home in Richardson). A few years ago a Cru staff friend named Mark (now the Destino National Director) commented to me, “When you showed me hospitality by offering me a glass of ice tea and Warren asked how I like my steak, it truly showed me God’s love for me through you both. I was a single struggling student needing to know if I was loved at all and he answered thru you both! Thanks for being so faithful!” In the fast paced life we can all tend to lead, we are grateful for sweet moments to remember the long lasting impact others can have through their generosity and also through their home. Over the years we have loved opening our home to others… sometimes to stay for weeks or months, or sometimes for a meal or good cup of coffee or a Bible Study. We just framed one of Peggy’s beautiful pieces of art called “The ALPHA and the OMEGA” for one of our guestrooms and are glad to have two single gals living with us for a bit. We look forward to getting to love on them while they are in our home! We are so thankful for YOU! - Warren & Barbara
